Windows based computers have many “services” that run on system start-up that are not needed at all. Many services can be set to “manual” start-up or disabled completely. Installing applications (e.g. Google products, Adobe products, Printer) also installs a bunch of unnecessary start-up programs that slow down your computer.
Every Windows computer comes with a ton of crapware pre-installed. It’s also very common for crapware to piggyback on top of valid software that you install from the internet (e.g.: Adobe PDF Reader does this). HP computers always come bloated with this junk. Lenovo also loads tons junk applications along with their own unneeded tools. Sadly, Dell is starting to do this as well. They do this to keep their costs down (companies pay to have their junk installed on these computers)
Some examples (there are millions more):
- Bing, Ask, Google, ANY toolbars
- Trial Games
- McAfee and Norton (Symantec) both have “site scan” only versions that are commonly installed with other applications.
